How to make a Flip Book

This project is different than any art project you may have done. It is a form of animation that years ago cartoons were designed using this method.

Watch all three videos to get the idea of how to make a flip book. Remember to follow directions from the first video when cutting your paper and assembling your book.

If you have note cards and a clip to hold them together, that will work as well. Sticky note pads can be used to but they need to be stapled to hold them together.

Step 1.

Watch this video first to  learn the history of the mandala.

Step 2.

Watch "How to draw a Mandala" to start your drawing. A ultra fine tip sharpie works well for the thin lines and a felt tip marker is good for thicker lines.

If you would like to color your mandala, choose a limited amount of warm and cool colors.

Parts of the house drawing

Folded Paper House

Click on the instructions box and you will find directions that will show you how to fold your paper for your house.

This will be a fun drawing to do after the perspective drawings we did before spring break. Instead of drawing a city with many buildings, you can focus on one building and draw the detail of a house. The size of paper to use should be no smaller than 8 1/2 by 11" which is printing paper. It is better to use larger paper. This drawing definitely needs color, preferably colored pencil. Trace your pencil lines with a thin lined marker when you are finished. Be creative! This could be your dream house.

Watch and draw along with these videos.

This weeks assignment is a step by step drawing of a zentangled landscape. Zentangling is doodling using line, combinations of shapes and simple curves to create patterns. The diagram below will show you how to draw the landscape. When you are finished drawing it with pencil, use a thin sharpie or thin line black marker to trace your lines. Then you can color it how ever you wish, or not color at all. Erase your pencil lines when finished. Before you start your drawing, watch the you tube videos below to learn more about zentangle doodling.
